ACL- Austin Christmas Lights… just kidding. This is the Trail of Lights, not Austin City Limits (ACL), a music festival that takes places in the same park, Zilker Park. Trail of Lights is the biggest event in Austin in terms of people participating. Yes- bigger than Austin City Limits or South by Southwest, another music and film festival that happens in Austin.

The Trail of Lights has been around for 52 years but had a two year hiatus in 2010 and 2011 due to a lack of funding. Trail of Lights is back and bigger than ever for their 50th year. The Zilker Christmas tree, which you can see in the distance of the photo above, is the tallest man-made Christmas Tree in the world at 155 feet tall. This trail has over 2 million lights- it is kind of bright.

This is a light festival that is world renown and a classic, unique event to Austin. This is a magical event that you do not want to miss.
