The Reality of the Second Week

First week was amazing!

But now it is second week and my body can feel it. It is easy in the first week to be so hyped up on excitement that your body does not feel the pain. As more and more rehearsals have built up, so has the wear and tear on the body.

On top of getting ready for Peter and the Wolf, I have been busy getting ready for the most anticipated event of the year in every ballet dancer's life- The Nutcracker. I actually really like The Nutcracker because I love the audience's energy, but rehearsals can be hard and very tiring. So far, I have had rehearsals for Spanish corps and Russian corps which take place in the second act and I have also had rehearsal for Rats who appear in the first act. I am so excited to be learning Russian corps because since I have been a little boy, this is my favorite part of Nutcracker. To have the opportunity to learn a dream role within my first year as a professional is more than incredible.

Angry Mojo food truck!

Although this week has been hard on the body, it has not dimmed my spirit of adventure in this new city of mine. I tried out this pretty sweet food truck on 6th street called Angry Mojo's late on Friday night. I had this hotdog that was incredible. There are a ton of great, food trucks in Austin that I am trying to eat at, so stay tuned for the update.

As most of you know, Voodoo Doughnuts and I have a shaky relationship. We did not start on a good foot- if you do not know what I am talking about, read this real quick. Eventually, I did go back a few months later to Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, Oregon and got doughnuts.

I say all this because VOODOO DOUGHNUTS IS IN AUSTIN! I decided to give my relationship with Voodoo another shot. New city, new me, new store, same doughnuts.

The famous Pink Box of Voodoo Doughnuts

The box says "Good Things Come In Pink Boxes" and Voodoo Doughnuts of Austin did not disappoint! As I was taking this photo above, I was walking against the traffic of a 10k race that was happening in Downtown Austin. I guess I had some different goals than other people that day, but the reality of the second week called my heart to get some Voodoo doughnuts.

This week, I will be taking some day trips and one overnight stay outside of Austin to perform Peter and the Wolf for some schools. I am hoping to get some sweet photos from this week of adventuring and performing. Make sure to follow me on social media in the tabs below to get the latest updates on my life.
