Be Great

"This past year has been filled with highs and lows, but I am now a stronger person and I am ready for the new year" said EVERY STATUS/TWEET/INSTAGRAM EVER

There are a lot of people that love new year's resolutions and they make lots of goals for their year on health, work, and social lives. I have tried doing resolutions and they never really worked out. There are a lot of goals all at one time and then as time goes on, it is hard to keep day one excitement for all those goals on the 100th day. Usually I do not finish my goals and I get disappointed. I have also tried to do no new year's resolutions and that year I felt like I was floating around because I was not focus on specific things in my life. I like having the focus on my life, but not too much focus because either the goals are unrealistic or life just gets in the way.

This year I am trying a new method of new year's resolutions which is theme. I thought that I should give a theme to my year which gives me focus but not specific things that I need to accomplish in a certain amount of time. The theme for my year will be, "Be Great." My definition of this theme is not to be the best at everything, or the top of my class, but in fact it is to give my all in all my endeavors this year. I do not want to do anything half-heartedly this year. I really want to focus on giving a 100% effort for 365 days. I also want to be great in the small things in my life. It is easy for me to want to be great in ballet but what about my friendships? Am I serving others or am I just being selfish about my problems? Am I making the effort to call my friends, to make sure they are okay? There are a lot of small details in my life that I have seen this past year that were not whole or complete. I believe the method of putting a theme to the year will give me enough focus to improve on details in my life while giving me some wiggle room to adapt to what life brings me in the new year!

BE GREAT!

Do you have new year's resolutions? If so, what are they? Or maybe you are the kind of person who does not like resolutions? If so, why not. Please comment below. I would love to hear your opinion.
