Thankfully at the Theatre

What a busy two weeks it has been!

My days have been filled with many rehearsals for the different roles that I am performing. There has been so much information thrown at me throughout the day and it is my responsibility to synthesize all the data and apply it to my dancing and my characters. Though it has been hard, I cannot say that it hasn't been fun. I am having some amazing opportunities dancing with some pretty, cool people.

In the past, I would have started performing Nutcracker on Black Friday...

...

Merde to all those already performing around the States!

...

 But-

At Ballet Austin, we do not start performances until the week after Thanksgiving! Which means that I had the whole weekend off. Having the time off was really important because stress was building for me in rehearsals. I want to do well and I take my time in the studio seriously which can sometimes get to my head and I can lose confidence or feel insecure. This year I was just thankful for time to rejuvenate my mind before performing all month.

This upcoming week, Ballet Austin will be in the theatre. We perform at the beautiful Long Center. What does that mean for my schedule and my life? Well- my days are shifted to later. I do not start as early as I usually do, but I end later at night. It can be hard to adjust the body to a later schedule right away. This week is important for the rehearsals and being on stage, but it is also just as, if not more important to take care of the body. I have to make sure to condition my body and eat healthy to fight the fatigue at night.

Naps are always a plus.

Although I am excited for the next month of performances, I cannot look past this first theatre week and adjusting my body! If you are in Austin, you must come see the shows! Below is every show and what role that I am doing. I will also post a link to buy tickets! I am more featured in the shows when I play the Nephew/Prince. If you cannot make it to those shows, do not fret- I dance plenty in the other shows.
