Unofficially Started and Officially Exploring

For months I have been dreaming about moving to Austin, Texas.

Who will I meet?

Where will I go?

What will I do?

In just 1.5 weeks and Austin has got my heart. I have had the opportunity to meet so many people while experiencing this amazing city through hiking, food, and sports.

I have unofficially started at Ballet Austin which might have you a little confused. Let me help you out real quick. Yes- I do start on September 12th.... BUT... I have been going into Ballet Austin every morning to take class which has been an incredible time. The staff and other dancers have been so welcoming to me and have introduced themselves to me. I am working hard to adjust to the style here which has been difficult yet rewarding. I have learned so much about me as a dancer in such a short time. In terms of health, I am feeling great and my injury is 100% normal which is encouraging. I will have to be aware of my body as my schedule increases, but I am just so grateful that I am healed and back doing what I love- dancing.

So you take class and then do nothing?!?!

Great question.

Answer:

HECK NO!

Okay, let me explain what I mean.

As many of you know, I am a Christian so I have been really investing time to create a community in the campus ministry at the University of Texas, Austin. I am involved in Bible discussions and small groups. I have really enjoyed building a great community and deep friendships outside of my work space.

Speaking of the University... so college football is a big deal here. In Boston, college sports is not super big in terms of spirit. We are talking bright orange everywhere with people tailgating all over the city. Sunday night was the game, Texas Longhorns against Notre Dame! I was not at the game because all the tickets were sold out! TEXAS WON in DOUBLE OVERTIME! The city was going crazy. I was going crazy and I just got here.

Off of campus, I have been able to eat great burgers from P. Terry's and some bomb tacos from Vera Cruz. I had a coffee experience with Fleet Coffee that I just cannot NOT share about. I had their "Saturday Morning Ritual" which is a cortado (a short latte) but the steamed milk is Fruity Pebbles infused milk. It was genius and INCREDIBLE. Food is great, but I also love walking around the city and seeing what is around. I have adventured in the city, but I also went to Barton Creek to do some trail hiking/walking outside of Austin.

I am in love with Austin. I am so excited for the weeks and months to come.

Who will I meet?

Where will I go?

What will I do?

Those questions from the start are still relevant, but so far the answers to those questions have equated to some great friends and memories. I am ecstatic to continue to answer these questions through more experiences. I am so thankful for all the support you have given me. As Monday comes closer and closer, I cannot start my career without saying thank you.

I will continue to write and post to keep you all updated on the beginning of LIVING the dream. Make sure to follow me on social media to get my latest updates on the day to day.
