End of an Era- 2 suitcases and 5 Boxes

Two years ago, I created this website in order to document my life chasing my dream of becoming a professional dancer. I had no idea what I was actually getting myself into when I bought my one-way ticket to Seattle in 2014. I had no idea the pain and the disappointment I would face. I also had no idea the happiness and success that I would receive. This has been quite the odyssey in Seattle.

Over the last few weeks as I rested for my injury, I had created a list of places and things I wanted to try or revisit before I left in order to celebrate my journey in Seattle. I have accomplished most of them and I was willing do anything to make this list complete! I really mean it. For example, Piroshky Piroshky Bakery is a Russian bakery located in Pike Place Market. Their Russian pastries are unbelievable. I have gone a few times and each time I have asked for their whole baked apple pastry. They are always out. They open at 8 AM every morning. A few weeks ago on Saturday, I woke up early just to be there at opening. Yes, I did get my whole baked apple pastry and it was even better than I imagined. Or how about going on a ferry to the beautiful Bainbridge Island?

MIssion accomplished.

Then there are some experiences that were not on my list but were still incredible. How about going to my first concert? That is right. I have never been to a live music concert! I changed that after watching Kaytranada at the Showbox theatre in downtown Seattle.

It was pretty special getting to celebrate my time in Seattle over the last few weeks.

But now.

It.

Is.

Over.

I packed everything in boxes on my last night because I was putting off the idea of leaving until I actually was leaving. My parents who had been in Seattle the whole weekend picked me up and loaded all the boxes in the car.

After two years, I had two suitcases and five boxes.

Well,

I have more than just that.

I have memories. Memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. What I experienced in Seattle was incredible. I grew up. I learned so much about ballet and my art. I learned so much about how to be professional and how NOT to be professional. I found my identity and who I want to be as I continue to grow up in life. I learned to love. I learned to mourn. I learned to persevere.

The last two years have been the most formative years of my life as a christian, dancer, artist, and person. I will always cherish my time in Seattle. Seattle will always have a special place in my heart and in my life. I haven't been able to process all the change that is happening in my life. In time, I will be able to truly understand what I just did.

I am excited to be back in Boston for a few months as I recover and get ready for Austin in September. I cannot wait to share about my next odyssey in my life.

Today marks an end of an era and the start of a new adventure.

Cheers to a great ending and a new beginning.
